Due to the unique design, we can move your teeth into their correct positions with greater comfort than traditional braces. Also, Damon braces are aesthetic, comfortable, and easy to keep clean.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners offer a cutting-edge approach to orthodontics by using a series of custom-made, invisible aligners. Using 3-D computer imaging, each aligner is specific to your teeth and gradually and gently shifts your teeth into place. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you are wearing the aligners. So you can smile with confidence, both during and after your treatment.

There are no metal brackets or wires to tighten. The clear aligners are virtually invisible to other people so no one will notice you are wearing the aligners. The aligners are also removable, which means you can eat what you want, brush your teeth with ease and floss with no problems. With the complete, virtual treatment plan, you can see the anticipated results before even starting your treatment. Since you have a series of aligners instead of metal wires and brackets, you actually need to go to our office less often to get adjustments.

Clear aligners do not interfere with your daily life, since they are:

  • Clear – Virtually invisible and do not show up in photos
  • Removable – Eat what you want, when you want
  • Maximum Comfort- Since the aligners gradually shift your teeth, clear aligners are extremely comfortable to wear.
  • Customized – Each set is specific to you, so they are optimized for fast results

Using modern 3-D imaging technology, a custom set of aligners is made for you.  Every two weeks, you switch to new aligners.  As you switch aligners, your teeth gradually and comfortably shift, resulting in a beautiful smile. Dr. Buckman will have you come by the office every six weeks to confirm the progress of your treatment.  On average, you will be in treatment for 9 – 15 months and wear 18 – 30 different aligners.  However, actual treatment times will depend on your particular case.

Ever hear that you won’t be able to eat anything with braces?  Not with Clear Aligners.  Because it is completely removable, you can eat all your favorites, from corn on the cob to popcorn or apples.

Not only are the aligners removable, they are very durable. Clear Aligners will not interfere with any of your extracurricular activities. Quality Treatment Through State Of The Art Technology

Surgical Orthodontics

Surgical orthodontics is a combined treatment by our doctors and an oral surgeon to correct jaw abnormalities. These issues are determined after reviewing the patient’s X-rays and models.

The orthodontist initially levels and aligns the teeth in the jawbone, then the oral surgeon positions the jaws into a more normal position to allow the bite to come together ideally. This procedure results in the improved ability to chew, speak, and breathe, while also delivering tremendous facial aesthetics.

Candidates

Buckman Orthodontics embraces the latest in orthodontic technologies to reduce the overall need for this method, however it can still be required in those with improper bites, as well as those with facial aesthetic concerns. All growth must be completed before jaw surgery can be performed (jaw growth is usually complete by 16 years with girls and 18 with boys), however it is very common to begin correcting tooth position while a patient is still growing.

Early Interceptive Treatment

When is the best time to begin orthodontics?

Although orthodontic treatment can be effective at any age, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have their first orthodontic appointment at age 7. While treatment may not be needed at this age, we’re able to see if any concerns may arise and provide preventative treatment as necessary.

What are the benefits of early orthodontic evaluation?

Early orthodontic evaluation allows for early detection of problems and can allow for more effective treatment in the future. Early intervention can help the growth and development of the teeth and jaws and prevent serious issues or treatment from occurring later on. If intervention is not needed, we’re still able to monitor growth and development and provide treatment later on.

Why is age 7 considered the optimal time for screening?

Usually, by the time a child turns 7, their first adult molars begin to emerge which helps establish the back bite. During this time, we’re able to evaluate the relationships between the teeth to see if any issues, such as overbites or crowding, may be forming. If there are issues, this gives us time to form a plan and increase chances for a perfectly-aligned smile.

Some direct results of interceptive treatment can include:

  • Creating space for crowded, emerging teeth
  • Save space for unerupted teeth
  • Creating facial symmetry during jaw growth
  • Reducing the risk of trauma to emerging front teeth
  • Reduce the risk for teeth removal
  • Decrease treatment time with braces

Are you a candidate for orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontics are not merely for improving the aesthetics of the smile; orthodontic treatment improves bad bites (malocclusions). Malocclusions occur as a result of tooth or jaw misalignment. Malocclusions affect the way you smile, chew, clean your teeth or feel about your smile.

Why should malocclusions be treated?

If malocclusions are left untreated, a variety of problems can occur later on. Crowded teeth are harder to brush and floss effectively, potentially leading to tooth decay and gum disease. Protruding teeth are more vulnerable to accidental chipping. Crossbites can cause uneven tooth wear and affect jaw growth negatively. Openbites may lead to tongue-thrusting habits and speech issues. Ultimately, orthodontics goes beyond creating a beautiful smile—it promotes better overall health.
